Wedding High
15 June 2007 – Back in the RV (River Valley, our secondary school) days, as you do when you are 15, we formed a clique of 10 girls. Over the years, several of us had gotten married and many have already become mummies of a kid, or two. A few years ago, a few tied the knot all within the same year, a bit taxing for the wallet with all that angbao giving… so imagine this year, haha, as another 3 of us held our weddings, not just in the same year, but all in May! Yes, isn’t it wild?!! Peiling & Fukky’s on 6 May, ours on 26th, and on the 27th, Peishi’s and Ken’s! I couldn’t believe my good luck, being able to attend both their weddings. It was so much fun! An entire month of merry-making from beginning to end!
It all began in Bali. Fukky’s family resides in Jakarta, so as a compromise on both sides, Peiling got her wish to have her wedding in Bali at the Conrad. She chose it namely for the Infinity Chapel, and boy, what a choice! The location was absolutely gorgeous!
The day itself began with the usual round of torture and torment the groom had to endure to prove his love…
…all worth it of course.
Just look at how beautiful Peiling is.

Walking down the aisle with her dad. That’s a Vera Wang gown by the way, so jealous!
Haha, Peiling, cheeky as ever!

Shihui flew down from Hong Kong too. So great to see all my close friends again.
And yep, the tea ceremony. Peiling and Fukky in line with their wedding theme had gone pseudo-modern with the colour scheme; still in traditional Chinese gear though.
That’s the first part of the wedding done, the banquet though was definitely the highlight of the day.
Held on the lawn right next to the chapel, the dinner venue was exquisite, straight out of Martha Stewart Weddings doncha think?
This is their wedding cake. And would you believe it, the entire thing is edible!
The RV table
And here’s us 姐妹 hamming it up for the camera.
The night was young yet.
After all the official stuff finally came to an explosive end… we adjourned to Ku De Ta, this restaurant/club joint where the party continued…
Us out of our formal attire, but more importantly, those @#$% 3-inch heels!!!
Erm… and as the night progressed, much through the prompting from the bride herself, let’s just say the activities got raunchier and raunchier…
In fact, it got a tad too unruly for this family-friendly blog, but as an indication, here’s Peiling having a laugh at one of the many incriminating photos that were taken of said events. And yes, Fukky IS buttoning up his shirt. Ahem. Moving on, moving on.
The rest of our stay was a lot tamer. Perfect for catching up with some good ol friends. And yes, apart from the wedding itself, the next best thing was being able to spend some good quality girlie time together.
In Bali, this includes getting massages of course, in nice tranquil settings…
…followed by a scrumptious seafood feast at sunset on the beach…
Whoa… quite breathtaking hey?
Us again, even more dressed down… so comfy!
Is it just me or is the coconut smiling at you too?
Check out the feast!
A visit to Hard Rock Bali was also on the itinerary.
And since Peiling and Fukky left early, Shihui and I went to join the rest of the gang at Novotel on the last night.
By some sheer luck, the girls got hooked up with this pretty funky villa…
…which even comes with its own plunge pool!
Oh… and that last night, we chatted and chatted into the wee hours… talking about everything under the sun, much like we did back in our secondary school days… haha, except we’ve now traded in our Burger King iced teas for a bottle of Jacob’s Creek. Hmm… also took a little walk down memory lane, recounting all those crazy things we did… it was so nice… and as exhausted as we were, none of us could bear to sleep ‘cos who knows when we’ll be able to hang out like this again… but eventually we all gave in to deep slumber.
As a final memento from Bali, guess what we got?
A sampler pack each from yippee(!) Krispy Kreme!!!! Absolutely to die for!
And no, we weren’t quite done yet.
On 27th May, we gathered once again at the Regent for Peishi and Ken’s special day. Oh look, Peishi (back row, second from left) was dazzling that day too, and so pretty in pink.
Sigh… this has been one fabulous vacation for me. To witness not just our own, but the weddings of two other dear dear friends, how good can life get? Blessed be.
